Bear Baying or Bear Baiting?

“Baying” is the ‘proper’ term.

Baiting would involve the dogs ripping and tearing at the bear.

Baying involves the dogs harassing the bear by barking & charging at it  - keeping it “at bay” (baying).

Both are wrong and disgusting but they are different.
