JJ was one of the world’s greatest rehabilitation stories.

Found stranded and dehydrated, weighing less than 1500 pounds, JJ was given a 1-5% chance of survival. Due to SeaWorld San Diego’s state of the art facility, JJ was able to make a full recovery, and 20,000 pounds later, was released back into the ocean.

Unfortunately, the story is actually less romantic than what is written here. When JJ was discovered sick and emaciated, it was all the work of volunteers not affiliated with SeaWorld that cared for JJ. In fact, when SeaWorld was asked to help, they declined. When they finally, RELUCTANTLY came down to help JJ, they refused to foot the bill for all the costs, such as transporting the poor thing to their facility.
Yeah, SeaWorld is just so dedicated to rehabilitation. I can feel the love.
